THE LEXICON

How Musicore talks

Musicore uses mining and geology language throughout the site — here's what everything means in plain terms.

Core concepts

Ore
Any single thing in the database — a band, person, album, song, venue, event, and more. Everything you can look up is an ore.
Core-relation
A documented connection between two ores — "played drums for," "released," "played at," and so on. The lines on the graph.
Detritus
A small fact attached to an ore that isn't a full connection on its own — a photo, a note, a social link.

Contributing & review

Mining
Adding new ores, connections, or facts to Musicore.
Refining
Reviewing, sourcing, or correcting something someone else contributed.
Raw
Just submitted, not yet reviewed by the community.
Refining (status)
Under active community review — getting closer to trusted.
Disputed
Reviewers disagree; needs more evidence before it can move forward.
Polished
Reviewed and trusted — the stable, citable version of a fact.
Sift / Sifting
The quick swipe-to-review flow (confirm, dispute, etc.) that moves raw contributions toward polished.
Sifter's Log
The feed of raw and refining content waiting for review, open to anyone to Sift.

Reputation

Flecks
Musicore's reputation currency, earned by contributing and Sifting. Shows how much someone has dug in.
Bedrock
The site's top-tier, most trusted long-term contributors.
Claim
Verifying you're the real artist, band, or venue behind a page, unlocking direct edits to it.

Exploring

Explore
The graph view — start from one ore and reveal its connections outward, one hop at a time.
Find a connection
Pick 2 or 3 ores and see the shortest path of connections between them, drawn as a graph.
Refine Mode
An optional toggle (once logged in) that shows each ore and connection's review status, with a shortcut into Sift for anything not yet polished.

Community

Vein
A category of data the community is actively building out, like venues or tours.
